Halloween memories...

The candle in the Jack 'o lantern has gone out. All the candy has been doled out and the kids have gone home, dumped they're treasure on the floor and properly divided the good from the bad.
Another Halloween has come and gone and I will be taking down the decorations and substituting them for Autumn. Time to look forward towards the holidays with anticipation and joy but still remembering the lingering memory of herding squirrels... in the dark... down the street... hyped up on candy. My grandsons...

Batman Squirrel, Ninja Squirrel and Boba Fett Squirrel...they look harmless don't they? HA!

Cinda the Witch

A couple of weeks ago I entered a giveaway over at Art Happens. Charlie my new blogging friend is in the middle of putting together an alphabet journal using her wonderful artful techniques. She's very imaginative and creative and everything she makes comes out wonderful. Check her out! So when I received my gift, I decided to display it prominently smack dab in the middle of my entertainment center among some other Halloween items. I think it looks great! Cinda the witch will be properly stored away year after year and we will enjoy her year after year. Thanks Charlie.

Kreativ Blogger Award..

Sharon from Mana Moon passed on a Kreativ Blogger Award to me. This group of people are sooo creative, they even spell kreativ creatively! Not sure what I've done to deserve this nod, but this blogging experience is new and exciting to me that honestly, I really don't care. The fact of the matter is, is that people, complete strangers take time out of their busy lives and either take a gander at my blog or out of the goodness of their hearts have become my friends such as Sharon.
Doesn't matter how or why, it just is and that's alright with me. So apparently there are rules and if you know me, I just love rules (insert sarcasm) and here they are...

1. Thank the person who gave this to you.....check!
2. Copy the logo and place it on your blog....check!
3. Link back to the person who nominated you....check!
4. Name 7 things about yourself that no one would really know.....Whoa, wait a minute..I thought I was to be Kreative? Well, we'll just see about this one...lol
5. Nominate seven 'Kreativ Bloggers'....check!
6. Post links to the seven blogs you nominate....check!
7. Leave a comment on each blog letting them know you nominated them....check!

In honor of Halloween, I'm gonna blow off the 7 things about me that people don't know simply because they're isn't anything left to the imagination...so here is my list my 7 temptations and fears.

1. Bread is a huge temptation for me..any form, any type and any where. Someone asked me what my fantasy was...without hesitation...Sean Connery holding a loaf of bread...seriously!
2. Fear of falling down. I fell down back in 99 and torn a muscle in my knee. I had to have therapy for a while and my knee hasn't been the same since.
3. The temptation to speak my mind. Something tells me you all already knew that.
4. I have a major fear of clowns.
5. The temptation to help people. This doesn't sound bad and it's not...except sometimes people don't want to be helped and I admit, no ones gonna give me an award for tact...lol
6. The fear of frogs. Funny huh? My brother used to chase me with frogs and then throw them at me...Ahhh, good times!
7. I am tempted to drive away. Let me explain. I love to drive and sometimes I just want to get in the car and drive without knowing where I'm going. Just drive and drive and drive....

Now here's my 7 blogs to pass the award to...

1. Kori @ Blonde Episodes
2. Anita @ Castles, Crowns and Cottages
3. Marie @ Dancing in Tattered Shoes
4. Debbie @ from Venting to Viggo
5. Charlie @ Art Happens
6. Martha @ Martha's Favorite
7. Tammy @ T's Daily Treasures

enjoy!!

18 Reasons

Today, 18 years ago is when the magic began, yep, it's our
anniversary
and good luck has it that this week I'm very much in love with my husband. We met when he walked into my office and started chatting me up. I was going on vacation in 2 days and I bet him that there were no black sand beached in Hawaii. While in Hawaii, I sent him a post card bragging about how I won the bet. The day I came back to work he called me and asked me out and the rest people....is magic!

Here are 18 reasons why I married Eric or things about him that impressed me. Some of them may appear to be superficial and all of them still ring true today.....(see, I told you I was in love today) By the way, I was gonna make it 19, ya know, one to grow on, but I think we're done growing.

1. He always ordered DESSERT when we went out to dinner and would share. Gotta love a man who shares his Chocolate MUD PIE

2. He talked about his family with love and respect.

3. He did and still does household chores and doesn't have to ask me what to do...he just does them because they need to be done.

4. He can fix or rEpAiR anything and when I say anything I mean it.

5. He speaks 2 and a half languages. English, German and a lot of Spanish from working with Spanish speaking men on job sites. He can cuss in all three languages too, including Croatian...don't ask.

6. He is very sTaBle. There is no drama and there are no issues. He doesn't play mind games unlike my family, "The Grand Champions of 1970-1982"...I found this new concept intriguing.

7. He serenaded me with his guitar and beautiful voice while we were dating. Have you ever seen old Ricky Nelson videos were he is on stage and he has that dreamboat look in his eyes and the girls would swoon? Well, I didn't really swoon, OK, maybe once, but I was impressed and he did have that dreamy look in his eyes.

8. He loves cats. Not that many men even like to be around cats, but he does. That was a big plus for me since I've always owned them...and my cats live a long long time.

9. He is prudent with his money, but he will buy the best if need be. He rarely spends money foolishly, invest and saves and once in a while will splurge. We have never had an argument over money, over many other things, but never money.

10. Loves and accepted my daughter Meredith. Who would marry a women with a 9 year old moody and drama driven daughter is beyond me, but he did.

11. He gives me neck and shoulder massages and I don't even have to ask...he just does it.

12. He is a very nosy person. He denies it. He says he's curious and inquisitive...he's nosy...I should know, so am I.

13. He loves to demolish and rebuild things. Doesn't matter what it is, from something small to something large. His family is like that. One day and (I'm not exaggerating), all of us were sitting in his parents back yard and his parents were lamenting about how they needed a new patio cover. Eric said "Well, let's put one up, it shouldn't take that long"...and they did, the next day. I like to tell people that I married into an Amish family.

14. He recognized his inner child. For someone who is so stable and practical I am amazed how silly and uninhibited and fun this man can get. You would be shocked if I told you some of the stuff this man has done.

15. Which kinda leads into this next reason. We have the same dEmEnteD sense of humor. Enough said!

16. He gets me. He understands the inner workings of bunny and that could be quite a challenge. He says he married me because I'm entertaining.

17. We agree on every single "moral" issue. We talk about everything from gay marriage to legalizing marijuana , to stem cell research and back to any other controversial issues....We are one....other stuff is iffy.

18. The last and probably the most impressive thing about him when we met was....I was at his home one day and for whatever reason ( see #12) I opened up one of his cabinets in the kitchen. I saw 7, yes 7, I counted, boxes of cereal on the shelf....and they were all open. OHMYGOSH! In my home growing up, my father did the grocery shopping and we had a choice..Frosted Flakes or Cap'n Crunch..and we could only open one, finish it, then open the other. So, you can imagine how impressed I was.

October 19, 1991 ...by the way, we still look like this today...minus the hair, add a few more lbs and assorted wrinkles. And thank you very much, Eric and I live very happily in our little state of denial.

Sweet Sixteen

I knew in your little baby body that you were an old soul. How did I know? When I looked you in the eyes and cooed to you, you literally had a cooing conversation back, it didn't matter how long I conversed with you, you were always willing to chat at any length. Later when you were about 4 years old playing with a stuffed bear, I asked you what your bear's name was, your response, "Mom, it doesn't have a name...it's not a real bear"...or when I would remind you to pick up your toys when you were done...again your response, "You know, you don't have to keep reminding me" and the time when you were in 3 rd grade when you told me I didn't have to wake you up anymore for school if I bought you an alarm clock, in which I did and I literally haven't woken you up for anything since. I know that being such a rational and practical being can be stressful at times and it's very frustrating to you that the world is not black and white, because it would be a whole lot easier if it was, but you are truly a wise young lady. Your wise because you have manage to combine hard work, compassion, caring and silliness all together. Your hard work has managed to get you at the top of your class and rewarded you with honors and accolades, your compassion has led you to help others when they couldn't find their voice and to speak out, even if it meant putting yourself in a bad light, caring for not only people and animals, but caring for your community and the planet and wise for letting it all go and being silly and enjoying yourself in the moment. You have been and I know you will continue to be a wonderful daughter...no pressure, I know you put enough on yourself. Dad and I love you with all our heart and want to wish you a very happy 16th birthday today and only wish great things for you in the future....and NO, we're not buying you a horse!

Open Letter....

Dear Hair,

We've been together for a very long time now and I've tried to treat you with the utmost respect. I always tried to take good care of you. I never teased you and I used minimal products to bring out the best in you. We've been through some hair raising situations but we always seemed to pull through. You were always around for me and I'll always be there for you. I admit I got a little vain and cocky there with myself and started experimenting with you, but it was always in your best interest. Just trying to fit in with the fashion, you know, move ahead.
And now... you turn on me. First I noticed you turning a little gray, little by little. It didn't bother me, I too get a little faded once in a while too. I know I neglected you once in a while, it wasn't intentional but I have other body parts that needed attention. OK, so after you recruited more of your buddies, I got the message... lite brown, dark brown, highlights, I thought I had it covered...but now, now you want to leave me. Oh don't think I haven't noticed. I'm not blind, I have eyes, that's one body part I can count on. I see subtle signs of you in my bathroom and everywhere else. Hair today gone tomorrow...is that the plan? I thought we would grow old together just you and me, enjoy our silver years together and make this permanent, but you have your mind set don't you? We're a team and we stick together..thick or thin, light or dark, in any weather. Please don't leave me, I swear, I'll start taking vitamins and whatever it takes to keep you.....you see, I've become attached and I can't let go.

sincerely,
bunny with the bad hair

MOVE IT!

I am a people person. I always have been, but sometimes people just hit a nerve with me So, having said that, I think once in a while I'm gonna write about my pet peeves. I'm not gonna go on and on, I'm just gonna mention it in the hopes of someone I don't know will stumble on to this blog and think twice before they do that dumb thing I'm ranting about. There aren't that many so it's not like I gonna constantly write about them. So here goes...

Not pulling over when there is an ambulance, fire engine, police, paramedic or anyone that could virtually save a life. Come on people....move it! When did people stop doing this? When I hear or see a vehicle like the above mentioned....I pull over. It's that easy! It is a life and death situation and how would you feel if it was your loved one inside an ambulance or a fire engine on it's way to your home? Think about it. Have we gotten so self centered that we can't think beyond ourselves? Do we not care? Are we so wrapped up in our lives that we no longer think of others and try to do the right thing? Are we in such a hurry that pulling over for 20 seconds can throw our busy lives into a spiral? Next time....pull over. I would do it for you. I'm just say'n!

Shhhhhh....

Can you keep a secret? No, seriously, can you? Are you good at it or do people run the other way when they see you coming knowing that your the closest thing to the daily news. Recently, someone spilled the beans to me probably knowing that I can keep a secret. I'm so good at keeping a secret that you don't even have to tell me to keep it secret....I already know I should. I know things about people going waaaayyy back that I totally forgot about and just recently remembered, but I never told anyone. There are things that I don't even tell my husband about because first of all, it's a secret and second of all, he probably wouldn't show any interest or concern...not that he's a callous person, it's just that he doesn't really get involved with some of the people I'm involved with....Oh Heck, sometimes I don't even tell him what's going on with our daughters just because he wouldn't understand. Going back to Jr. High and High School where kids learn to trust and be trusted is a very hard issue to deal with. Gossip spreads like a wild fire and is fanned with non trusting people who find it hard to keep the life and death secrets of teens to themselves. Usually those people eventually learn a lesson, either by getting in major trouble or losing trust with someone or people just don't tell them anything. I was one of those people who learned very fast that if you spread info your not suppose to, then people wouldn't like you and I soooo wanted to be liked...I still do. So anyways, keeping a secret is a good thing most of the time and as far as me telling you my secrets...well, that's almost impossible, you see, I am an open book as far as my life goes except for my weight....and that is a national guarded secret....I'm just say'n!
