The Thrill is gone...or is it?

Needless to say I was shocked when it occurred to me that I started this blog almost 3 years ago. It took me a couple of years to actually think about it before I took the plunge....and then....I dove in, head first. You never know where life takes you and I had no expectations as to where I was going with it, I just knew I enjoyed writing and talking and looking at other peoples blogs. Little did I know it would lead to a whole new venture in creating. I have been amazed at all the talent and creativity I've come across in those 3 years and you guys always seem to inspire me...from the garden experts, artists, crafters, mechanical engineers, writers, collectors and everyone in-between, I've learned so much.

The truth is, I'm kinda bored with my blog right now. You guys aren't boring...I'm just in a period where I'm not really feelin' it. There's a lot of stuff goin on right now and blogging in a sense is last on my list. I'm not sayin' I'm done, I'm Just Sayin (see what i did there?) you probably shouldn't expect entries on a regular bases right now...although, I KNOW you all stop your lives to check out Bunny's Blog.....ah huh, right!

So, with that being said, here's an update as to what's going on...

Raquel is coming home June 9th after finishing her 1st year of college...away from me and yes, I survived just like you all said I would. She had a scare with Mono recently but all is well and she will be living in a COED on campus apartment next year. She was also offered a PAYING internship at a goat farm......Apparently you can't take the country outta the city girl.

I've opened my Esty Shop and I've sold 2 items....I would like more but I would also like to win the lottery. I also sell at flea markets and do very well. My real job at the school will be ending soon and I will have the whole summer off.

Eric is done with the staircase and upstairs painting and just tying up loose ends up there...and now he informs me that the Living room will be next......stay tuned.

Meredith and her family are doing well...she's burnt out as she is PTA vice president and with 3 squirelly boys, how could you not blame her.

So, that's all the news fit to be printed.

The Last Entry

Yup! This will be the last entry from me this year. A lot has happened, too many to point out and if your inquisitive (nosy) enough to know, go to my archives.

I don't have the energy to pack Christmas away right now and again, I plan on giving some decorations to Meredith which is my way of saying, I think I'm tired of schlepping out 13 32 gallon containers from the storage and riffling through each and every one.

My diverticulitis has flared up a little. I think it was a tomato seed, who knows, so much going on the past few days. Why didn't Santa bring me a clean up crew?

I don't intend to make a New Years resolution as the odds are I'll never keep it and anyways I am not looking forward to Jan, Feb or March as those are my least favorite months of the year...analyze all you want as I have no clue why I don't like them.

But what I do want to say is, thank you to each and every one of you who I've come to known through this blog. From Maryland, South Carolina, down to Texas, Hawaii and Canada and everywhere in between, I Wish you all a very safe and happy New Year. Thanks for listening to my vents, fears, concerns and joining me in my joys, triumphs. I will definitely be here next year reporting on the ridiculous and of course the sublime....I'm Just Sayin'

Planting the Interview Seed

Recently, my blogging friend David from "Views of a Star Child" interviewed his partner Sam with hysterical results. What made it funny to me is that they weren't trying to be funny and just let us in on a slice of regular life as it were. Having read that, it gave me an idea to interview all my family members thinking it would be very interesting and give you folks some sort of insight as to how we function and interact as a family. I'm starting with my hubby Eric and so having known him for 21 years, I just can't spring things on him...I need to plant the seed and little by little water the pot so he can get use to the idea.

scenario: Eric is sitting at the computer looking at something...I don't know what it is...yet. I am folding laundry about 5 feet away from him.... I begin telling him about my friend David and how he interviewed his partner Sam and so and so on...Planting the seed~

Me.... So, can I interview you?
Eric.... Why?
Me.... I think it would be funny and my blogger friends know me. I thought it would be nice
if they got to know you.
Eric ... No good could come of it.
Me .....lol...I think it'll be interesting, what do ya think?
Eric.... Why? Is it because your friend did it on his blog?
Me.... come on...
Eric.... No!

Long Silence....and I grab a tablet and a pen...


Eric ....Who's Sam?
Me....... David, he's my friend, Sam is his partner.
Eric ......Do you know Sam?
Me ..... No...why?
Eric ....Sam the man
Me..... what?
Eric..... Don't write that! Are you interviewing me now? Why did you ask me if your already
writing things down?
Me...... LMAO

Eric turns to the computer screen and now I hear a hockey game...he's not looking at me, he's watching the screen very intently...


Me..... So? No interview?
Eric.... What'cha wanna do, talk about? Why? (still looking at the screen)
Me..... I think people would like a little insight as to how you work.
Eric..... I work very well!

He turns off the sound on the computer and turns to me...

Eric .....Do I have too?
Me .....No...that's OK.
Eric..... I'm trying to watch hockey here. Can you wait till after hockey season?...lol
Me... ...lol Are you serious?
Eric..... yes...are you?
Me...... Serious about what? Interviews?
Eric ....Tell your friends there is nothing interesting about me. I'm just a regular guy who likes
hockey.
Me..... I think you just did.
Eric.... I knew it!


And there you have it people, an interview with Eric or a prelude to an interview. I'm curious...what would your partner do if you ask them for an interview? Wouldn't it be interesting to see who goes for it and what they have to say. BTW...I'm gonna still work on him but in the meantime I'll bribe Raquel into one...

Teacup Tuesday

I married into an Austrian family and when I say Austrian, I mean from Austria. This tea set is from Austria. I know this because first it says Austria underneath the cups, plates and everything else, but mostly because my husbands grandmother brought it to America after WWII. In German, Oma means grandmother so when I write Oma you'll know who I'm talking about. She was a a very young girl living in Austria when she married in 1920 at the ripe old age of 18 as this was part of her dowry. Oma and Opa (grandfather in German) moved to Germany out in the country and lived there on a farm for some time...until the war began. Along with the 3 children they moved from country to country trying to avoid trouble and looking for work. They lived in Hungry, Yugoslavia and back to Austria all the while traveling with this tea set and everything else. With the help of Catholic Services, they arrive here in America around 1951 and finally settled in Los Angeles.

Fast forward to 1992 when Oma passed away at the really ripe age of 90. Having visited her on many occasions, she knew I like this set because she displayed it in her china cabinet and we talked about it. After her passing, my mother in law asked me if I wanted it...





Of course I wanted it. Nobody, including Oma knew anything about it. Like I said, it has the word "Austria" on the underneath and the number 13 on most of the pieces.
It's cream color with a delicate orange and blue floral pattern with gold rim. I have the large tea pot with lid, creamer w/o lid and 4 cups and saucers.
I have never used it nor will I ever, but as you can see, I use it as a center piece in my dinning room from time to time....and this is my favorite teacup/tea set for obvious reasons...

jump on the bunny train

By popular demand, I put one of those "followers" thingys on my side bar. A few people have asked me where it was after pushing all the buttons on my blog without anything happening. So, I've decided to add one. I really didn't want to because I didn't think that anyone wanted to follow me and I didn't want to be disappointed, but, I'm trying to get over it and realize that who ever is reading my blog is enough and that I'm grateful for just that. It's always nice to be appreciated and validated, but honestly, I just like to visit with you all and write what's in my head.

So please, go ahead, become a follower not a stalker. Be a participator not a hater. Be nice think twice.. Ok, I'll stop now.

Next Blog...

I was wondering what the Next Blog would be. You know, up on the top of your blog where is says, Next Blog, so I clicked on it expecting another window into someone else soul. I was expecting a whole new world of wonders and what I got was a big surprise but not all at once. When I first clicked on it, I wound up on a fashion blog written quite nicely by a young college student studying fashion here in Los Angeles. I thought, hmmm, interesting but not for me so, I went about my business. I don't know why, I figured all us bloggers were lined up one after each other in a nice little row. Maybe in categories or alphabetical order or by topic....Like, all the funny blogs go here and then we'll put all the technical blogs here and so on and so forth. I thought there was a method or a formula as to how blogs are put on the WWW. Anyways, a couple of days go by and I decide to check it out again. I click on Next Blog expecting to see my fashion don't of the week when I came across a motorbike blog. Wait a minute, is this chick designing fashion for dirt bikers now? The blog had changed. Being the tenacious person that I am I tried it again later that day and surprise....a new blog...something about new cell phones. Ok, my formula theory is out the door now and now I realize blogs are just shoved in like sardines. After thinking about it I realized there must be millions of blogs and people have so much to say to you and show you that your Next Blog changes several times in the course of a day. Who knew? I wonder if anyone ever considered rotating blog dating....I'm just say'n!

Just Aprons Strings...

Since I've been blogging, I made a few, as I call them, blogging friends and one of these new buddies is Martha from Martha's favorites.Well, leave it to Martha, after reading one of her post, I made a comment about how much I enjoy vintage aprons. You all know me, I comment about most things and so, next thing I know, I receive this pretty little thing in the mail

How did she know it matches my kitchen perfectly...I don't know, but she included this very pretty Theater Mask Pin too! Sorry the pic is terrible.
