Love in the Produce Dept

It's not what your thinking or what I think your thinking...let me explain.

I just got back from my local market and as I was casually strolling in the Produce Dept minding my own beeswax, I hear from behind me, "Oh Miss, excuse me, Miss", ok, I know this person isn't referring to me as I have been called a Ma'am for a few years now and btw, I dislike it very much as I don't quite see myself as a "Ma'am, anyways...I ignore it and start rifling through the bananas when someone taps me on my shoulder, I turn around and it's an elderly lady, one that I would call....a ma'am. She says, "Excuse me Miss, but are you buying lettuce?"as she pulls out bit and pieces of paper from her purse. I'm thinking to myself, there must be a recall or a deadly plague associated with the lettuce and she's alerting me to it. Then it dawns on me....she's looking for a coupon as she says," Oh, I just know I have a coupon for lettuce", yup, that's how I knew, I don't need a house to fall on me..... And before I could say anything (insert shock) she finds it and says, "here it is, Iceberg lettuce", "Oh no!", I respond, "I have Romaine, but I need to tell you that I love you". Ok, she's kinda startled and giggles a little and before she can run away from me I tell her, "first of all, that was very sweet of you to offer one of your coupons and second of all and most importantly...you called me Miss...lol, you just made my day".

And as we parted ways, there in the produce Dept, for a split second I was a Miss and it felt good and I don't care if she couldn't see or that she was an elderly Ma'am or even if she called all females Miss. I'm Just Sayin

Playing in the Dirt

Remember this post?
I've been playing in the dirt lately and planting veggies and flowers. This year, again, I swore I was gonna plant my tree, a petite crape myrtle and again, I swore up and down the isles of every nursery and DIY store in a 20 mile radius looking for it...no luck. Being that I had no tree, I decided to plant flowers around the edges of this area. Last year I went on a garden tour and came across a clingy flowery plant that I very much admired and after talking to the owner of said plant, she gave me some seeds in a baggie and wrote on it, "plant late January". Fast forward to this past January where I found them and proceeded to plant them...the problem was, I forgot what kind of flowers they were. So I waited and waited and did my research...seems I planted Sweet Peas and they are gorgeous!

and then I planted Mexican Sage because it reminds me of velvet...

and these guys seem to pop up everywhere and how they got there I don't know, but I like them so I let them grow wherever they want........nasturtiums

and since I can't find my tree, I decided to look for another tree that would fit my criteria, pink, white or lavenders blooms and not to tall, but alas, my agricultural lovin' daughter scretly behind my back and planted this

corn....stinkin' corn. I know, it could be worse, she could be planting something else and I know when she goes to College, I will miss her shenanigans. So, after seeing this, I went ahead and planted tomatoes, which are doing very well...

and just recently green bell peppers and something called Salsa chili....again, not my idea

I will you keep you posted on the progress and of course, I wanna see what you all planted this year...I'm just sayin'

some of this and more of that

Been pretty busy the last couple of weeks. Schools out forever...well, for me, but not for Raquel. One more year and it's on to a nervous break down...but let's not talk about that....

The corn is as high as an elephant's eye...whatever that means...

Went to a car show and this 1955 Victoria stood by a 1955 Victoria...both in good condition!

Yard sale goodie for 1 dollar. A silver plated ice bucket. Nice and tarnished...just how I like it.

Went to a bridal shower for my good friends daughter who is marrying a Scottish lassie,
C`est La Vie

and watched as Raquel showed her Hefer and Lamb at at livestock show..This girl is way to focused. Check out that stance!

...and I will be outta town for a couple of days...This is where I'll be...relaxing and taking a tour of the Cal Poly San Luis Obispo campus. I shall return

What's goin' on

I've been busy these last few couple of weeks with various tasks ....

Bought this hanging frame with crystal door nobs at a yard sale for $2. It was black and would have gone perfectly in my kitchen but I didn't have the wall space...hmmm, what to do

I left the back of it black because I didn't have enough paint for the whole thing and then I took out the thick vintage postal stamps pics.....and then painted it mellow yellow

Inserted some pretty green and yellow stock card of different designs and hung it in my patio and as long as Eric doesn't see all the holes I made trying to hang this...I'll be OK.

I had this gold resin shelf in my master bath for a while and been meaning to do something with it. I forgot to take a picture of it but anyways, I painted it white and connected it to my white wrought iron trellis in my dinning room. I used wire to keep it steady and only put someone light items on it. I can take it down whenever I want..

My daughter Meredith's birthday is coming up and so I kidnapped some squirrels for the day and had a secret photo shoot. I am making a photo collage for her and let me tell ya...It's hard herding squirrels and having them pose, keep all eyes open and stop talking all at the same time..

brotherly love

The infamous corn is now 3 feet tall.

and I broke down and planted tomatoes...just one plant...in a pot. We're gonna have a busy summer this year so I didn't want too much maintenance.

I've made arraignments to go outta town to visit some colleges...Yeah...I'm still in denial

here on the central California Coast

and here farther away and here even further....YIKES!!

And the most important news in our household...yep! Raquel has her license

I want my life back, I want my little girl back, I want my car back

OH YEAH!...I got my summer reading assignment...I am to read Pride and Prejudice and Antigone...but I think I'll sit this one out...and read something that doesn't require a lot of brain cells...I'm on reserve at this point...I'm just sayin'

Antique white ornate plaster mirror is now a center piece on dining room table

...and a whole lot more that I didn't take a pic of.....due to messiness. Oh! One last pic of my
yellow bell pepper plant that continues to give me peppers. I planted this last Summer and it
refuses to die....good thing we all like them....

Another one bites the dust...

My tomatoes growing days are coming to an end. I planted early this year so they are on their last leg with 3 little tomatoes hanging on. This was the best year for me regarding growing tomatoes, but this is how they look right now.

Off to the compost...soon!
My Peppers on the other hand are doing great. Good thing Eric likes stuffed peppers...

...and one more thing. When I planted this lovely flowering plant, imagine my surprise when I realized I had planted another bell pepper instead. So, because it's in a pot, the peppers come out mini size which is perfect for salads....I'm a genius ...kinda.
