Horsing Around

This weekend, Brenda and I ventured on up to San Juan Capistrano to check out a horse show. It was a beautiful day with blue skies and big puffy clouds. The area was just gorgeous with it's rolling green hills and bazillion dollar

There's lots to see at these events besides horses....there's dogs

Mexican Hairless ones

And Lexi, our friend Tom's dog who does tricks

There's art, like these life size sculptures

and this gorgeous mural made from strips of torn magazine

and then there's me (on a very windy day) and Tom. He was Raquel's 1st riding instructor. He still teaches, but he's also a polo player and sells very high end saddles and YES, I did go brunette but I think it faded

and last but certainly not least or the reason we were there....the jumpers

...and if it looks like a fairy tale ending to a wonderful was.

I'm just sayin'

  1. It does look like a fairy tale. Gorgeous!

  2. Ooh what a lovely day you had Bunny! "Puffy" is the perfect description for those clouds!

Love the art - those horse sculptures are amazing. There's something about art outdoors that I really like.

PS that "hairless" dog should be careful - he could be sued under the Trade Description Act ;)

  3. They dont call me hairless but the dog has more on top than me. Here we just call them mangey dogs. LOL

It does look quite lovely there. Yall had some carolina blue skies.

Glad you had a good time. Course you always seem too.

  4. Oh, what fun you must have had. Those horse sculptors are amazing! Hugs

  5. Hey bunny! Love the beautiful day, as i sit here contemplating our liquid sunshine yet again..
The magazine strip collage was really an interesting idea..

  6. The mural made of strips of torn magazine pages is absolutely amazing. What size do you think it is? i'd love to see that!

I went to the mission once a long time ago, loved San Juan Capistrano and the whole area. Have the swallows returned yet?
When i was there bazillions of Monarch butterflies too.

I have wonderful memories of my time there. You lucky gal to live close enough to be able to just go horsing around on such a fine day!

  7. Oh my gosh! That is a perfectly gorgeous day in beautiful surroundings. We've had nothing but dreary days of dust for a week now. :/ Have a good week! Tammy

  8. That looks like so much fun! (sigh) I miss Southern California! I was raised in So Cal.

Mexican hairless....poor sweet things, how did they ever breed a hairless dog?

Love the horses. Hm. So beautiful there!

  9. Looks like a fabulous day!!!

  10. I feel like I was there with you...great way to spend the day.
