Let it Rip

Can I just say how much I despise carpet? I HATE CARPET!! Which is why I ripped out the carpet on the lower three
stair treads going down and Eric ripped out two more on the staircase going up

going to extend the hardwood flooring to these treads...gonna be hard being that the floor has been in for 16 years

but if anyone can do it...Eric can...he's the man

Almost done...

Well, here we go again! We are almost done, and when I say we, I actually mean Eric..He has

put up the chair rail and hung the new lighting fixture

and it works

put up the new light switch plates

and my contribution... making my own matting for my vintage "cream of wheat" posters and then I painted the frames white

and I painted the medallion above the lighting fixture...

as I said, this renovation is 78% done(eric came up with that number) A little sanding and a little touch up paint here and there and we're good to go. The next pics should be a complete dining room full of furniture...stay tuned.

Renovation Update...

We have painted two tones of green, darker on the bottom and lighter on top. You have to imagine white chair rail in between.

It's a little gloomy outside so the paint looks just a little darker than what it is...if you squint your eyes, you can see the infamous lemon tree...

opposite wall...same paint.

In between this room and the kitchen is a pocket door that when closed, it rolls back into the wall. Before it was solid and boring, but now...

it's opaque and exciting. My design, Eric's ingenuity. Reed glass insert. He did an awesome job.

This is the view from the kitchen, looking into the dining room. You can see the texture of the door a little bit better. We are in our element and we are on a roll.....stay tuned.

You Say You Want A Renovation

Do you know how much I love to renovate? Do you know how much my husband likes to renovate too?
Seems like we were meant to be. Even as a child I was always decorating, designing, tearing down or building something. When my mother would walk into my bedroom, she never knew what to expect. Eric and I are a perfect team as he likes to demolish and design and I like to build and decorate. As you can see we are in the middle of remodeling our Dining room and it is quite the mess, but we don't mind. In fact...we are already talking about next year's Living room project.

Where is all the Dining room furniture you asked? Why it's in my Living room of course.

I will keep you posted on the progress....Hmmm, I'm thinking dinner party.
