Isn't it Ironic?

Ok...Your gonna love this. So today I decided to decorate a little. I have some energy back...a little, but my intent was good. So Eric hauls in my 32 gallon containers...and there's 12 of them and sets them in different parts of the house. I decide to decorate my dining room first. On my china cabinet I decorate with a Dickens Village theme. So, I start by removing my Fall stuff and then move on to the containers. I grab an item and it slips out of my hand and lands on my foot, more to the point...my toe. Well, I just have to tell you that it hurt like a son of a #*&%@ and my toe immediately swelled up (warning: kinda gross pic coming up on a non pedicured foot...hey!, I've been preoccupied lately)

So after the crying and cussing ended, I hobbled over to the bathroom to clean it. It's not broken because I can move it and I couldn't yell for Eric because he's on the roof putting up the lights so, I hobble back to the dining room and pick up the item that was left on my hardwood floor. It's in perfect condition, no cracks, brakes and nothing lose...even the floor endured. What landed on my foot you ask....this

That's right...my Dept 56 Victoria Station. Being that my given name is Victoria I thought that was pretty ironic...but no, I guess not ironic enough because after I tended to my food and iced it I went to tell Eric of my misfortune. He immediately tells me to sit down on the porch so he could take a look at it and after realizing it wasn't broken he asked me what piece did you drop. Before we were married and while we were dating, our very first Christmas together he had bought me this piece as a gift, so when I told him he wanted to check it out. We come in the house and I show him. He can't believe it because this piece is big and heavy and he gave it to me. We laughed about my so called "Flintstone feet" and then he goes to put my Victoria Station securely in it's place on the china cabinet when apparently he miscalculated the area and hits the top of it on the under cabinet. The gold piece at the top of the roof comes flying off and now there is a large hairline crack on the back side. You see...THAT'S IRONIC!

The moral of this story....don't let you hubby handle your Christmas stuff and always and I mean always have a glue gun at the ready....Oh yeah...and wear shoes when your decorating....I'm just sayin'

  1. Oh I am soooooooooooo sorry to hear about your Dept 56 being broken. And OUCH your poor toe! You just didn't have much luck today did you. DARN I have sooooooooooooo much Dept 56 (in fact I would love to sell some of it) & you are right that Victoria Station is one of the heaviest pieces. BIG SUCKER!

Thank you for commenting on my new doll. I do love your suggestion for the name Holly. In the running is Holly, Noel, Hope & Joy. Check back to see what it will be. How did you get the pictures of those trees on the background of your blog???? LOVE IT! And take care of that foot!

  2. OMG. First of all, you are lucky you didn't break your toe. Secondly, that IS IRONIC! You are so good at capturing the moment, Bunny! I swear, you and my cousin Marie are awesome story tellers!!! I do love your "bunny" motif for the holidays. You would love where we live; we live in the city, but we have real, wild rabbits in our yards! Every yard has at least 1-2 resident, year round rabbits!

Have a SAFE week my friend! Anita

  3. Oh my! You know that Alaniss Morisette song. Isn't it Ironic? Man, that is totally ironic. Unbelievable! Definitely keep the shoes on next time. I had to rearrange the kids room yesterday because of a leak in the ceiling which led to a trickle down their wall. Afterwards, I realized that somehow along the way, I had cut my big toe and scraped the top of the nail. (No,I will not be posting a picture :) Must have been when I was moving shelves and bunk beds all by myself. Hope you didn't have any further mishaps with the other decorations. Best wishes to you,:) Tammy

  4. Bunny: That stuff is heavy, you are lucky you did not break your toe. I usually put up my set each year. This year however, I wanted more Noah type (elmo) things. Have fun decorating and please watch those toes! Lots of love, Martha

Love your background and vintage postcards. I don't know what I'll be doing yet, for my blog that is.
I did manage to get my tree up Sat. Still have the outside lights to do and the rest of the house. I'm going to take my time and enjoy it.
